Caricature use with a difference

caricature ideaI wrote recently on our other blog that giving a caricature as a gift can make you a hero in your workplace - everyone will think how clever you are and the recipient will really appreciate the thought.

So here is a caricature with a different story.

Rhonda Lou was doing a tour of company locations to roll out a new training program called “Respect”. (Top marks for the company for doing the training program!!).

To mark her involvement, her boss thought it would be a fun idea to have a special T-shirt printed with her caricature image on it - a sort of a pun on a rock tour.

As you can see the result drawn by artist George is quite fun and the customer liked it as well “Absolutely outstanding! This is going to be a big hit! Thanks much for taking care of this on such a short time frame. We really appreciate it and will think of you next time!”

Wedding sign-in board caricature

I received these wonderful pictures this morning from a client who had a wedding caricature drawn. As you can see from the photos, they used it as part of their wedding reception sign-in.

“I just wanted to send you a pic of the caricature my new husband, Mike, and I used at our wedding. It was a hit! Everyone just raved on how great it looked! Just wanted to say thank you!

The value of a caricature as a wedding sign-in board provides many solutions.

  • First it provides a wonderful point of focus. People are drawn to the unique image.
  • Next, the caricature sign in board liberates people’s creativity. You know the feeling….what do I write. By having a creative image people’s brains are turned on just by seeing it and out come the witty comments.
  • While most wedding sign in boards are formal, you may be wanting your wedding reception to have a more fun mood, and what better way than having people drawn to an image that is a little different. It really sets the tone for the rest of the evening!

We can arrange a framed print with an extra wide matting for people to sign. Just let us know how wide you’d like it and we can give you a price!

Because we have a range of artists, we can solve the sign-in board problem in a way that can range from bordering on formal to completely outrageous!!

Not all caricatures are human

Caricatures are great fun and even more so, often, when they are not of humans.

The artists at Caricature King are a pretty flexible lot….and and produce the goods when asked.

Here are some examples:

horse

This cheeky young filly was produced by artist Shane and is rather cute.

fish

This guy was drawn by artist Rick - a mean ol’ catfish if ever there was one!

roo

This Aussie darling was created by artist George. Nah - your butt looks just fine!

So if you are after something different, we have the artists. Please note that work for logos or commercial use attract a higher rate.

Wedding sign-in board caricature

A popular use of caricatures is to draft the bride and groom and to use the caricature in an element of the wedding. Some use them as date savers, others as the cover for the wedding invitation.

This couple will be using theirs as a wedding wedding sign-in board. What a great way to gather best wishes from your guests and to include it as part of the overall art work.

It is quite simple - all you have to do is make sure you have a nice wide mat inside the frame where people can write. Then after the wedding it is simply a case of replacing the glass for a lasting memento of the happy occasion!!

Caricature was an ideal 10th wedding anniversary gift

I am regularly asked for ideas for caricature gifts. When it is for a couple or group, my suggestion is normally to depict some aspect that is common to each person, that each will be able to recognise and appreciate the not only the artwork, but also the thought of the gift giver. Some time the gift giver is in the image, as in this example.

This was the brief given to caricature artist George :

The three of us - husband Rob, Wife Laura and Puppy Lacy in a black and Silver Ranger Bass Boat fishing on a wooded lake. The lake has dead trees and stumps coming out of the water and on one of the trees, there is a snagged light green frog lure dangling from a branch. In the back ground a Bass has jumped out of the water. Laura is wearing a light blue turquoise halter style tankini. Rob is wearing denim shorts and a white three button polo shirt (no Pocket) and lacy has a pink collar with a light purple heart shaped tag that reads LACY. Lacy’s bottom teeth are usually showing over her lip. The whole scene I have described is something my husband and I do almost every day in the summer, so pardon me if I’m being so detailed.

And the result:

The customer ordered a framed print and this was the response on receipt:

It has been a pleasure working with you both!

Thanks so much!!!

Laura
