Caricatures on t-shirts

Digital caricatures are sooo versatile. Unlike the traditional paper-based ones that get framed and put on the wall, the flexibility of digital leads to some great fun uses.

Artist George recently completed a group caricature of 14 guys who make an annual trip to Las Vegas during Super Bowl week.

This year, to mark the 20th year, they had special T-shirts with a great caricature printed on the front.

Wedding proposal caricature

You can use caricatures for all sorts of things, from saying farewell to retiring work colleagues (or those moving jobs) to thank you and family memoirs.

Another fun caricature that we have orders for are for wedding proposals – either as port of the proposal or as a way or remembering the proposal.

Here is one that caricature artist George created – the client had it made into a jigsaw puzzle and as the last piece was put in place, the groom was there with the ring, in the exact place depicted in the caricature. Was this life imitating art or an artwork of life?

Of course the proposal moment is special and worthy of creating a visual memory – but how if there is no-one with a camera, or the even takes place high above the ground?

Artist George once again came up with the goods based on the clients brief.

Was the proposal totally unexpected? Don’t lose the moment!

An unusual caricature

One of our regular clients, ‘Bigfella’, has been keeping artist George busy again.

Involved in the magic business after hours, our death defying friend wanted himself posed in the cruicifix position, holding a cobra in each hand, with angelic wings and a space background.

He was very happy with the result!

Catching the character in caricatures

Caricatures are all about characters. The artist seeks to capture his interpretation of the person, (in our case using just the photo/s supplied).

Here is a recent job from artist George who was asked to capture an Australian ‘bushie’ – that is, someone who lives not only in a rural area, but perhaps even in a remote area. Typically they are involved in the cattle industry.

As you can see, the stance is great, just like a man who has lived the hard life would stand.

Staff caricatures

For many businesses having a picture of staff is one aspect of personalizing the profile page. You are dealing with a company and you get to see the person’s picture.

Sometimes however, staff are reluctant to have their photos taken for use on a public website.

One way around this is to use a caricature of the person. This allows enough of who the person is to be shown, but at the same time not revealing the look of the person 100%.

Some businesses like to use caricatures because they are different. This is great for a business that may want to remove some of the ’stuffiness’ that may be associated with their type of business.

Using caricatures of staff can also be used to portray that your business has anĀ  ‘outside the box’ capability.

A while back artist George did a series of caricatures for Pyramid Educational Consultants.

I think they have shown good use of the caricatures by using them on their consultant’s profile page, plus on a map on the same page. Have a look here.

The caricatures are also used in email signatures.

I think this helps show potential and existing clients that their organization is not the same as everyone else – that they can and do think outside the square and all success to them for doing that.

An added advantage is the staff members also get a copy of their caricature to use!
