Black and white caricature, simple but powerful

There is the saying that less is more. This is the case with this simple but powerful black and white head and shoulders caricature by Shane.

Positive and negative space creates an impactful fun image ideal to print on a tshirt or coffee mug, plus of course for social media avatar or email signatures, or even to print and put on the wall.

Caricature of Caricature King!

Hi, Matt from Caricature King here. I just thought I would share this great caricature that artist Eddie did of me, as celebration of me shaving off my beard of 35 years for a charity fundraiser.

It was a surprise – just an email turned up with YOU as the subject line. Lucky I did not delete it thinking it was from one of those robot emailers….

Bottom line is I love it and did so from the moment I saw it. It was a reminder of the reaction people get when they see their gift caricature, laughter, amazement and joy.

Yes laughter, amazement and joy is what you give when you give a caricature, in addition to great art. You will be fondly remembered as the giver of joy….what more could you want :)

Thanks Eddie

Getting into the new year – caricatures here we come!!

I hope everyone had a great Christmas/New Year break. In some parts of the world it seems weather was the greatest focus, even overshadowing gifts and get-togethers.

So the New Year brings with it renewed hope and a renewed focus on many things, including gifts! At this time of year??

While the big gift giving time seems to be behind us, the early part of the year also presents many gift-giving opportunities.

Often this come from people retiring or moving jobs – caricatures provide wonderful scope for a truly personalised gift that cannot be matched by anything else. How else can you include someone’s traits, quirks, interests and life influences all in one gift?

Our caricatures are total custom. We don’t start with templates, though some customers say a scene just like the one on the artist’s sample page.

And why do people love getting caricatures? Interestingly it seems they like to see how other people see them. They like the bit of quirkiness, and the thought that has often gone into the extra elements to make a good picture great!

So think about who you can give a caricature gift to this year – the opportunities are endless…birthdays, weddings, invitations, retirement, moving job, staff profile pics…

Here is a small selection of some recent work that shows the awesome diversity of styles we can provide to suit everyone!

Avatars a hit on new site

One of the challenges of featuring people’s photos on a website is consistency.

The issue is bad enough when people can be taken in the same workplace, but unless they are taken in a  consistent manner, the results are typically variable, and as a result unprofessional-looking.

This is further compounded when the people are in different locations and do not have a consistent theme.

This was the challenge facing the creator of a new site called affiliatedoctors.com

Here, the ‘doctors’ are scattered all over the globe  and bringing a look that created consistency and professionalism was a  bit of a challenge.

The solution was the creation of avatars.

This allows the evening our of backgrounds, poses and lighting to create a result that meets all the needs of a consistent looking site they also conveys professionalism.

Here is a quick screen grab of a few that were created by artist Brian:

Have a look at the site. you will see they are used in three different sizes to create a wonderful tapestry.

If you feature staff pictures on your website and feel there is a level of inconsistency, then give a thought to having professionally drawn avatars created. They are also ideal on email signatures as well ;)

Caricatures for your blog

When people think of caricatures, they often think of a comic, rather distorted image that due to its humor is good for a fun gift, but little else.

However, if you want to broaden your thoughts on what a caricature is, it can include the term avatar, and mascot; and this is exactly why they can be so good when used on blogs.

Take this for example:

OK the quality here is a little off as the image size was reduced, but you can see the full sized image here on their blog.

Note also how the images have been cropped and used as avatars for each post. Neat.

So if you are developing a blog, and want something a bit more funky and cool to represent you, then we can help create a fun yet professional persona for you! Feel free to visit our main site or contact us directly
